Jacoby Residence

Holladay, Utah

Robert Jacoby's first project was to design and build his own house on the benches of the Wasatch front. This sleek, linear house is submerged into the hillside, and cantilevers out towards the south to capture daylight and views of the Salt Lake Valley. The rocks gathered during excavation were used to clad the house, further blending the form into the landscape. This house has been an ongoing project for the past 35 years and to this day is still evolving - the next step is to plant the vegetated roof for which the roof was originally designed.
